Rating Summary
If you make it all the way through the first season of Bad Thoughts, you'll probably be left wondering just how close Tom Segura is legally allowed to get to elementary schools.

For all intents and purposes, a sketch comedy show, Bad Thoughts has some common themes throughout its vignettes: allusions to the most debaucherous gay sex, other sexual perversions, and Tom Segura writing scenes that just so happen to require him to make out with attractive, often partially clad women. It's a rather unfortunate look inside of the mind of a great stand-up comic.

Bad Thoughts is a 2025 Netflix dark comedy series created by and starring Tom Segura. Structured as a series of vignettes, it features standalone stories where characters face bizarre, morally challenging situations. Segura plays various roles, including a country music star who kidnaps fans to mine their traumas for song inspiration, an assassin who botches a job, and an IT guy seeking revenge, all unfolding with dark humor and provocative twists.

Bad Thoughts Review

Tom Segura is one of the best stand-ups working today. Known for pushing boundaries with his signature style of twisted observational humor, the funnyman clearly has a dark side. However, Bad Thoughts is like it’s from the dark side of someone who grew up with a Type-A neighborhood pervert who knew the latchkey kid’s spare key was inside the fake rock.

Bad Thoughts isn’t without its funny moments, but unless a two-hour-long d!@k joke and Segura’s hairy pancake @$$ is your idea of Shangri-La, you might want to skip this one.

WOKE REPORT

Progressives Hate Children
  • Almost an entire episode is devoted to children saying remarkably horrible things (it’s the whole point of the skit), including curse words. Why protect children when you can exploit them for laughs?
Gheeeeyyyyy
  • There’s a lot lot lot of gay humor, but despite it being too much, the show isn’t celebrating or proselytizing it. So, I didn’t mark the Woke-O-Meter down.

James approaches dramatic criticism from a philosophic foundation grounded in aesthetics and ethics, offering insight and analysis that reveals layers of cinematic narrative with a touch of irreverence and a dash of snark.

Stand up wise I see Segura as pretty based. Bert is more woke than he is.

This tracks. Will give it a try.

I really liked ep 2 and 3 with the Garth Brooks and Steven Segal parodies. So far it’s not repetitive but still alot to go. Ep 1 was kinda weak but stick past that.
