I just finished episode 5, and to my sensibilities, this show is making fun of the woke. I also thought the movie “Barbie” did this, so YMMV. Regardless, I’m enjoying the show so far and would give it a 7 out of 10.

i did not pick up on the woke character of the series, so it cannot be that annoying. I just see an AI robot and some secondary characters who really are just that – secondary characters. I watch it in English with Spanish subtitles (i am a little hard of hearing) so i get two different potential woke sources and i did not pick up on either. i guess a person hears what they want to hear and disregards the rest 🙂

I’m not sure what the first two commenters are talking about but we have a black female lead and a lesbian couple main characters. The only alpha male character portrayed in this series is a robot. The other white male character is an over paranoid zero confidence ninny who is a pillow sniffer.

It’s cleverly wallpapered woke, with enough bells and whistles to keep you engaged in a story with [some] characters that have good depth. But, if you pull back your view, certain rules apply to the casting: No straight white male in leading or positive roles, all main males are gay, non binary or submissive or of color; even in the parody show Sanctuary Moon, when the second in command (a white male) assumes leadership from the Asian captain who loved a black female, he’s instantly revealed as evil while the third in command male offers sympathy while being blatantly gay. The main plot’s expedition team and the evil raider team are both led by women of color. A random white female is the only obvious straight character and she’s portrayed as sleezy, conflicted and evil with a hook nose that’s clearly displayed for it’s unattractiveness. The most woke of all plot lines is when the Indian / mideastern straight male needs to sign a contract with the lesbian couple for them to allow him in for some action — done provokingly well, but contrived — as of episode 9 the storyline is now stretched and tired as it’s now all about McGuffin plot devices as all character revelations seem to be exhausted – oh, and of course Alexander Skarsgård is well known for being a gay actor – he’s SUPER handsome and commands intense gravity every time his face is on screen, (and for good measure his character is a Ken doll with no male plumbing) hopefully the season closer brings it all home!
