Happy Gilmore 2 REVIEW
Lazy, listless, and lame, Happy Gilmore 2 is Netflix IP strip mining at its worst.
After this embarrassment, the writing duo responsible for Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer, Big Daddy, and more —Adam Sandler and Tim Herlihy —should retreat into a deep, dark hole, never to attempt to write a comedy again. Whatever magic the two might have once possessed has been traded in for AARP cards and disappointment.
In 1996, the one thing that held the ridiculousness of the original together was a then-30-year-old Adam Sandler's explosive energy. While no one can fault him for slowing down with age, not adapting his material accordingly is 100% on his shoulders.
Regrettably, with Happy Gilmore 2, Sandler chose not to offer a new and unique perspective on a now almost 60-year-old Happy. There are brief moments in the script that hint at Sandler and Herlihy seeing the opportunity to build upon the their earlier creation. Instead, he and Herlihy chose to select all, copy, and paste it with inert contrivances and tepid attempts at humor haphazardly tossed in that 1996's Happy would have jerseyed and cold cocked.
Sandler and Herlihy make cursory attempts at infusing this disaster with heart, but like the rest of it, it's so lazy and half-hearted that schmaltzy would be a massive upgrade.
Every beat, be it comedic or dramatic, flatlines. Happy Gilmore 2 is a hole in none.

Stopped watching after 15 minutes. Sandler is playing golf with LGBTQ sunglasses…
Those are the re-edition of the 1988 ColorVision sunglasses by BlueBlocker. The rainbow design was originally meant to represent the spectrum of visible light and the tempered glass effect of the ColorVision glasses. In this particular case, the rainbow is not representing the LGBT community or interests.
