    I just saw episode 6. Very disappointed on the two foul words used and the lesbian kiss. The first five episodes have been incredible. So disappointed in the 6th episode. Not sure if we will continue watching.

    I’m extremely skeptical that lesbians existed as prominently in the past as Hollywood believes.

    PBS has released its series for the Count of Monte Cristo on Amazon Prime. The book may be the best ever written and comes in at a whopping 1300 pages – so adaption is always difficult. Couple of things stand out for me in terms of woke – there is a lesbian kissing scene (mild) that is presented in the book. Caderouse dies first in the revenge plot and somehow has a redemption arc in the series (likely because he was cast as black). And finally – Dumas wrote that Haydee was a beautiful Greek (mentioned several times) and is presented as black as well. All in all the series is terrific, the count is measured and vengeful and Jeremy Irons is terrific as Abbe. Could have been A+ without departure from written classic.
