The Loud House” was created by Chris Savino, an animator and writer, who drew inspiration from his own experiences growing up in a large family. The concept originated from a short film he created in 2013 titled “No Guts, No Glori.” Nickelodeon picked up the series in 2014, and it premiered in May 2016, quickly gaining popularity for its relatable characters and humorous storytelling. The show follows the chaotic yet heartwarming adventures of Lincoln Loud and his ten sisters as they navigate everyday life in their bustling household.

The Loud House Movie

Lincoln Loud, amidst supporting his sisters in their daily endeavors, feels overshadowed and seeks his own identity. Inspired by his friend Clyde’s family discovery, Lincoln embarks on a journey to uncover his own heritage, leading the Loud family to discover their Scottish royal lineage. However, their Scottish vacation turns chaotic when Morag, the disgruntled caretaker of the Loud’s ancestral home, tries to drive them away using hypnotic powers on the family dragon, Lela. With the help of his siblings, Lincoln thwarts Morag’s plans and restores peace to the village before bidding farewell and returning home.

PARENTAL NOTES

One or Two Things
  • The show’s TV-Y7 rating is pretty appropriate. There are some moments that might be slightly too intense for younger children. However, those moments really only give the appearance of intensity. Nothing meaningful comes of them.
  • There is a short seance that raises a ghost from the afterlife.

WOKE REPORT

WOKE WARNING:
  • While it is not present in this movie, there is a significant number of LGBT characters in the series.
Cocktail Party DEI
  • One incredibly short scene shows a military submarine captain that feels forced. It’s just enough for the writers to brag about their virtue at cocktail parties.
  • 0.5% of the Scottish population is of African descent, yet immediately upon hitting the shores of a small and remote town there, the animators made sure to check some representation boxes. They are little more than scenery, and no ideology is pushed. Again, it’s just enough to satisfy the showrunner’s egos.
  • The baby dragon just so happens to be a girl.
  • Lincoln Loud’s best friend Clyde gets a bit weepy and emotional about his friend moving away but it’s a very brief moment and, today being what it is, it’s just nice that the two aren’t hot for one another.
