Rating Summary
Obsession sticks to its simple premise with zealous fanaticism. It works, but the storytellers sacrifice complexity for atmosphere. Still, it's probably the best movie of 2026, so far.
After breaking the mysterious “One Wish Willow” to win his crush’s heart, a hopeless romantic finds himself getting exactly what he asked for but soon discovers that some desires come at a dark, sinister price.

Not Worth It5% WokeF
"Obsession" is basically "The Monkey's Paw" but written as the umpteenth horror movie where the man dies at the end just for “living and loving while male.”

You’ll never know if you should be laughing, uncomfortable, or freaked out and chances are you’ll feel all three quite often if my theater is anything to go by. Obsession is the best debut in years and marks Curry Barker as a filmmaker to watch.

There is an episode of the classic Twilight Zone series called “The Chaser” about a young man who buys a love potion to make the woman he likes fall obsessively in love with him, only to discover that there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.
Granted, back then relationships between women and men weren’t weaponized and intimacy wasn’t viewed as dangerous or suspect like it is today. It was mostly about understanding healthy boundaries and limits.
